Clifton Alf

Alf has a beautiful temperament and stunning looks, making him a highly competitive all rounder, while his easy going, laid back nature, will give any style of rider from beginners to seasoned campaigners the confidence to get out and have fun.

Competing at Pre-Novice level horse trails (equivalent to Open level pony club eventing).

Very honest jumper, jumps 1.15m. Never spooks. Jumps any show jump fill.

Easy and honest cross country. Jumps confidently over corners, ditches, chevrons/skinnies, water, bank complexes and combinations.

Competitive dressage, with some lateral work established. Below are judges comments from a dressage test where he scored 76.7%:

  • 3x 9's scored throughout test
  • 8 for paces. Judges comment: 3 lovely paces
  • 8 for impulsion.
  • Judges comments: Horse showing suppleness and willingness to move forward.

At Woodhill Sands(September 2010) he finished in fourth place:

  • Scoring 78% in the dressage
  • He was one of only three out of twenty six starts to jump cross country clear and under time.

Ideal prospect for the hunt field.

Heaps of fun to take out and about. Never spooks or worries if left alone without company.

We take him out to Muriwai beach and the forest and he doesn't even bat an eyelid when horses gallop past him or take off next to him. You can just cruise along on the buckle.

Great to shoe, catch, clip, float, truck. No vices.

Grazes in a herd or alone, no problem! He is laid back in every way and doesn't need regular work.

Only for sale to the very best of homes.

Great for amateur/junior coming into senior eventing – will make good Pony Club Champs mount. Great to hack out alone or with company. Handles well in paddock, truck or float in every way.

Only lightly evented but very bold and brave cross country with a lot of scope.

5-stage vetting November 2009.

Note: Novice Horse Trial level in New Zealand equates to Preliminary Horse Trial level in the USA.
