The selection of Andrew Nicholson and three of his horses – Nereo, Avebury and Mr Cruise Control – as the only members of the ‘A Squad’ in yesterday’s announcement by Equestrian Sports New Zealand (ESNZ) clearly demonstrates the UK rider’s continuing domination of the sport in the lead-up to the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky later this year.

Clifton Lush, ridden by Joe Meyer, slipped to 13th place at this weekend's CCI**** event at Luhmühlen, near Hamburg in northern Germany, after collecting four rails and four time faults in the final show jumping phase, taking their score to 69.0 penalties.

Clifton Lush, ridden by Joe Meyer, has become the leading Kiwi combination at this weekend's WEG selection event after completing an "absolutely stunning" clear cross-country round 14 seconds under the optimum time, taking the pair to sixth place on the leaderboard.
