After the first day of dressage, with 41 of the 83 combinations having completed their dressage tests, Joe Meyer, riding Frances Stead's and Lucy Allison’s Clifton Lush is in 13th place at the Mitsubishi Badminton Horse Trials in England.

William Fox-Pitt today won the 2010 Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event on Cool Mountain with Phillip Dutton in second place  on Woodburn. New Zealand’s Jonathan ‘Jock’ Paget on Clifton Promise finished in 27th place after rolling two rails in the show jumping.

William Fox-Pitt continues to lead the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event on Cool Mountain after putting in one of 10 double-clear rounds in today’s cross-country phase. Jonathan ‘Jock’ Paget, riding Frances Stead’s Clifton Promise, went clear, but the pair went steady for their first four-star and incurred 22 time penalties, although this still lifted them from 38th to 27th place, as only 39 of the 52 starters completed the course.

UK eventing veteran William Fox-Pitt leads the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event on Cool Mountain, with a score of 42.8 penalties. After warming up superbly, Clifton Promise and Jonathan ‘Jock’ Paget, finished the first day “disappointed” with a score of 60.8 after being spoked on his first movement in the arena.

Twenty-five of 53 riders performed their dressage test on day one of the 2010 Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event, with Karen O’Connor and Mandiba leading the pack with 43.7 penalty points. New Zealand's Clifton Promise, ridden by Jonathan ‘Jock’ Paget, perform their dressage test at 10.02 am on Friday, the second day (2.02 am here Saturday morning).

Kentucky Horse Park, Wednesday, 21 April — Under gorgeous, blue Kentucky skies and part of the largest field ever at the 2010 Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event, Jonathan ‘Jock’ Paget successfully presented Frances Stead’s 16.3hh Bay NZTB Gelding Clifton Promise to the Ground Jury at the first veterinary inspection.

By this time tomorrow, the Rolex Kentucky four-star three day event will be underway and New Zealand's sole contenders, Jonathan 'Jock' Paget and Clifton Promise, will have presented to the Ground Jury for the first veterinary inspection.

Clifton Promise, along with Jock Paget and groom Summer Phillips, are the first combination to settle into the facilities at Kentucky Horse Park in preparation for next week's Rolex Kentucky 4-star three day event.

New Zealand eventing combination Clifton Promise and Jonathan ‘Jock’ Paget will start their 9,000 mile journey from Auckland next Monday, 12 April, to compete in the Rolex Kentucky 3DE. They hope their mammoth journey will eventually take them all the way to September’s World Equestrian Games and the 2012 London Olympics.
