Holds record for best recorded win at a Horse Trial in New Zealand With 13.1 final penalties

Won Training Horse Trial as 4 year old in September 2008 with record low 13.1 penalties:

  • - Dressage 86.9%:
    • - 13 x 9s out of 16 movements
    • - 9 – General Impression
    • - 9 – Paces and Impulsion ‘Lovely elevated paces’
    • - Clear jump and time show jumping.
    • - Clear jump and time cross-country.
  • - Finished on 13.1 penalties, less than half second placed horse on 26.9 (also a Clifton Horse – Clifton Gem!).

Reserve Champion National Young Event Horse Championship as 5 year old – May 2009:

  • - 22 starters
    • - Dressage – 26 (4th)
    • - Jumping – 30 (2nd)
    • - Confirmation – 15.1 (1st)
    • - Gallop – 9-5 (1st – next closest scored 8.5)
  • - Total 80.6% (2nd).

Top scorer after conventional Young Event Horse class judging at Puhinui December 2008 when only a four year old.

Top scored with ‘Perfect 10’ for Gallop at National Young Event Horse Championships at Taupo – May 2008 – when only a four year old.

Bred by Olympic medallist Greg Best and his wife Kim and is by BT, a stallion, Greg stood in New Zealand for a few select mares for two years before it returned to the US. BT is out of a full sister to his Olympic show jumping silver medallist Gem Twist. BT is by the Jalisco B sire Ollisco. BT, a Selle Francais stallion, has some of the most prepotent jumping blood in the sport.

The dam of Clifton Zander is Topshelf who is by Tribune (Sir Bart) out of a Distelfink mare.

His full brother, Clifton Bee Gee, was Young Event Horse Championship at Puhinui in 2008 and placed at national YEH Championship in Taupo 2008.

Three stunning loose elevated paces with great natural rhythm and ground-covering action. Consistently scores over 70% in dressage.

Scopey, brave jump, with great cross-country gallop.

This horse is still very much maturing and growing and is being given time to do so. However, he is a lovely looking horse with great eye-catching presence.

This horse has all the elements needed to be seriously competitive on the world stage. Must go to a rider who has real ambitions to take him there!
