Clifton Razz

This has to be one of the most exciting young horses around. Exceptionally powerful with really big movement, great gallop and enormous scope. Won his last two Prelim Horse Trial starts before moving up to Intermediate for third place first time out.

Within 13 months of his first Training Horse Trail start he was third at his first Intermediate. This was before he actually turned seven years old.

Produced carefully and correctly, but has such ability he finds it all very easy.

Result highlights include:

• Placed 3rd at first intermediate start when cruising easily around cross country — still only one second off being second fastest of the day – October 2008
• Won both his last two starts at Prelim Horse Trails level having led from start to finish. Clear Stadium and cross country and fastest time of the day at both. Won by almost 10 marks each time – Sept/Oct 2008
• Placed 6th National CCI* 3DE Championships out of 48 starters – May 2008.
• Won first start at Pre-Novice level (1.05 m / 3' 5” both stadium and cross country jumping).

This horse has an enormous scopey jump but is totally adjustable in front of or after a fence. He has never had a cross country jump fault.

Powerful, elevated paces. Can produce some stunning dressage. Has achieved 76% in a test and regularly scores over 70%. Has scored nine for his paces.

Very laid-back attitude and trainable brain. Extremely fast learner as his record shows.

By Grosvenor who has sired many top jumping horses – both eventers and show jumpers. These include Clifton Shiraz who went to David O'Connor as an Intermediate eventer, David rapidly started winning at Advanced level and the horse was targeted to defend David's Olympic Individual Eventing Gold Medal in Athens 2004 before being killed in a tragic paddock accident. The stable name of Clifton Shiraz was Razz. This horse is named after him, as they are so alike.
