Christine Weal

Placeholder ImageChristine is a specialist dressage rider and trainer, She has a long history of success in advanced level competition as well as consistently starting young horses in their competitive career.

Christine has represented New Zealand 6 times, has been advanced level national champion twice and has either won or placed in the NZ Young Dressage Horse Championship since its inception.

She has trained advanced level riders, national champions, international representatives and has herself invested 10 years into obtaining international dressage training experience and knowledge.

Competition Success

  • Team gold medal winner at the Asia Pacific games
  • New Zealand Advanced Dressage Champion x2
  • New Zealand young rider champion x2
  • New Zealand representative x6
  • Reserve Grand Prix horse of the year
  • Third New Zealand Grand Prix Champion
  • Winner Northern Hawkes Bay Advanced Champion 2006, Landro-L
  • Winner Volvo World cup advanced qualifier
  • Winner New Zealand Young Horse Championship x2
  • Novice horse of the year 2006, Bushranger

She has taken the ride on Clifton Bee Gee since mid-2008, after the horse won the inaugural Young Event Horse Championship at Puhunui in March 2008.

Clifton Bee Gee was bred by Olympic medallist Greg Best and his wife Kim and is by BT, a stallion Greg stood in New Zealand for a few select mares for two years before it returned to the US. BT is out of a full sister to his Olympic show jumping silver medallist Gem Twist. BT is by the Jalisco B sire Ollisco. BT, a Selle Francais stallion, has some of the most potent jumping blood in the sport.

It is therefore perhaps not surprising that because Christine found Clifton Bee Gee so talented as a dressage horse that we moved the focus from being an all-round eventer to him being a dressage specialist.
